I was directed to this site for the information on the Piper Cub used during WWII. I wanted to share these two photos of J-2 Piper Cub S/N 1319 that the US captured form the Germans. My PapaGeorge (grandfather) is the one who flew the J-2 back to US airfields. He can be seen in the first image propped up in front. The second image has the serial number 1319 on the tail. I scanned the image at a very high resolution and was able to read the number. My PapaGeorge passed away on Aug. 22 of this year, but I can remember all of the stories he told me about during his Air Force career. He even said when he was flying this J-2 back, he was almost shot down by a US B-24. I have lots of his pictures, info, and flight logs from his Air Force career. Just thought I'd share these photos.
